How to Enable SSH on Ubuntu 26.04

To enable SSH on Ubuntu 26.04, install openssh-server and open the port.

Step 1 : Update.

sudo apt update

Step 2 : Install OpenSSH.

sudo apt install openssh-server

Step 3 : Start the service.

sudo systemctl start ssh

Step 4 : Check status.

sudo systemctl status ssh

Step 5 : Enable on boot.

sudo systemctl enable ssh

Step 6 : Allow SSH in UFW if UFW is enabled.

sudo ufw allow ssh

Step 7 : From another machine. Change the user and IP.

ssh username@192.168.1.50

You have enabled SSH on Ubuntu 26.04.
